Terms of Service

These terms apply to your purchase and use of the Survey Validator and the Survey Analyzer (together, the "Service"). They are written in plain English and intentionally short. Please read them before purchasing.

1. What you're buying

For $49.99 USD, you receive one PIN granting six months' access to both apps. The six months (the "term") start the first time the PIN is used to sign in, not on the purchase date, and end on the day before the same date six months later. There is no limit on the number of surveys, and features that don't use AI are unlimited during the term.

When the term ends, the PIN is suspended until it is renewed. A renewal costs $49.99 USD, is bought with the same email as the original PIN, and adds a new six-month term to the same PIN. Renewed before the term ends, the new term starts the day after the current one ends; renewed after, it starts on the renewal date. Files you downloaded during a term remain yours after it ends.

2. AI usage budget per term

Each term includes a budget for the underlying AI provider costs (Anthropic, OpenAI and Google API calls), shared by both apps: currently $12 USD of AI-provider spend per term. When the budget is used up, the AI features pause until the budget is topped up or a new term begins; features that don't use AI keep working. A renewal starts a fresh budget. Unused budget does not carry over to the next term and is not refundable.

An AI top-up costs $15 USD and adds $10 USD of AI-provider spend to the current term's budget. It does not change the term's end date, and can only be applied to a PIN whose term is still running. Top-ups are bought with the same email as the PIN.

We disclose this cap here, on the buy page (in summary form), and in the in-app notification that appears when the budget is used up. The budget exists to keep the Service economically sustainable for all customers; without it, a single user could consume unlimited AI compute on one PIN.

3. What the Service does and doesn't do

The Service analyses your survey across ten independent validation checks (bias, readability, item independence, scale alignment, construct coverage, reliability simulation, inter-rater consensus, and others). It produces a structured score, an AI-revised version of your survey, optional structural revisions you approve item by item, and a Word (.docx) export with a methodology appendix. The Survey Analyzer analyses response data you upload (response quality, scale reliability, groupings, group differences, written comments) and can draft a written report and slides. It does not:

Output should be reviewed by you before deployment. The Service is a tool, not a methodologist of record. Decisions you make from data collected via your survey remain your responsibility.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for:

You may share your PIN (and the email it was bought with, which is needed to sign in) with a few colleagues in your own team or organization; everyone using it shares the same AI budget and term. You agree not to resell the PIN, publish it, or distribute it beyond that group. You are responsible for use of your PIN by anyone you share it with.

5. Refunds

A new PIN is refundable within 30 days of purchase if it has not been used to sign in. Once a term has started, it is not refundable, and neither are renewals or top-ups once AI budget from them has been used. A top-up bought with an email that has no active PIN is refunded in full. Before purchasing, please review the Survey Validator and Survey Analyzer pages, the FAQ, and the privacy statement to confirm the Service fits your needs.

Exception: if a technical fault on our side prevents you from using the Service, contact [email protected] within seven days of purchase and we will issue a full refund or replacement PIN at our discretion.

7. The Service is provided as-is

The Service produces a structured validation report, an AI-revised version of your survey, and optional structural revisions — tools to accelerate your design work, not a substitute for your own review or for a survey methodologist's judgment. Review the output before deploying the survey.

8. What we'll cover if something goes wrong

Our financial responsibility for any issue with the Service is capped at the amount you paid for the current term (the PIN or renewal, plus any top-ups during that term). Outcomes downstream of the Service — response rates, the quality of decisions made from your collected data, business or research outcomes — sit outside that cap.

9. Service availability

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uptime. The Service depends on third-party providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Posit/ shinyapps.io, Cloudflare, Google, Stripe), any of which may experience outages. Term lengths and end dates are not extended for outages, but if an outage on our side prevents you from using the Service for a significant part of a term, contact us and we will consider an extension.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada. Disputes will be heard in the courts of Ontario.
